Heart with Wings Shoulder Bag

The minute I saw tiny happy's shoulder bag tutorial, I knew this was going to be my heart with wings applique bag. Yes, I have a secret thing for heart with wings. The tutorial comes with a pattern but it's not printable. I was so swept away by my heart with wings, I just had to make the bag now even though I did not have any whole cloth to cut the fabric from. So I did the unthinkable. I used the same orange duck fabric (it looks like duck, feels like duck, so it must be duck) I had used for my first bias tape tote. Horrors! The same fabric? It's like being caught wearing the same outfit in the same week! I was too swept away to care. The shoulder bag was rather easy to put together. Until I got to the handle. When tiny happy said sewing the straps together was a "bit fiddly", I had no idea what she meant until I actually got to the fiddly bit. Fiddly bit means almost severing a patience (or impatience) nerve trying to sew the fiddly ends of the handle together and nearly going insane with the effort.

My Bias Tape Tote is really a Top

I guess I'm not done with bias tape tote because here's another one. Not to repeat myself, I tried to do it a little different this time. I used the same pattern as I did for my first bias tape tote. For variation, I added a boxed bottom.

And to complement the boxed bottom, I put in pleats for some roominess.

For closure, I used some baubles instead of a button. Nice.

When I showed the bag to my husband, he said it looked like a top.
